Myth: To attract positive things into your life, you must be joyful all of the time

There is a popular belief that if you are sad, you will attract bad luck because 'sad' is a negative emotion. To attain personal development, one must learn to be joyful all of the time.

Some gurus promote the idea that you must always be positive in order to attract wonderful things into your life. However, they fail to highlight that, according to life's principles, downtimes are unavoidable. They fail to explain that even the emotions we label as "negative" can serve extremely vital roles. If you've never felt sad, how will you know what it's like to be happy?

The majority of these emotions are polar opposites of one another. Normally, one cannot exist without the other. The key is to learn how to control your emotional triggers rather than pretending to be happy all of the time.
