You Should Recognize Talent Rather Than Efforts
Do you know why some people succeed more than others?
There are only two possible explanations: talent and effort. The
abilities, skills, and expertise that
determine what a person can perform are referred to as talent. The
degree to which a person uses their talents
is referred to as effort.
According to psychologist Carol Dweck, relying on intrinsic talents rather than efforts might limit motivation. If you believe that talents are inborn (an approach known as a fixed mindset), you would believe that no amount of work will affect the outcome.
Building a growth mindset, or the concept that people can improve and develop abilities through hard work and devotion is a far more motivating strategy. Praise efforts rather than talents as one method to cultivate this mindset.
