Criticism and bad feedback will shatter my self-esteem

The grain of truth: Certain sick and evil persons take tremendous pleasure in attempting to demolish others by bombarding them with criticism. When possible, avoid such folks.

Most often, though, you may use the criticism and negative feedback of others to propel your personal and professional development. You cannot grow in any skill unless you are aware of what you are doing incorrectly. Many coworkers will gladly coach you to a greater level of competency at work, and your friends can provide you with useful relationship criticism. Even your harshest detractors can contribute to your progress.

Just a simple hack for this is:

Make the decision to listen to criticism with an open mind. Then say to your critic, "Thank you." That's something I'll think about." Then give it some thought. Could doing something in a different way benefit you?
